12 Days of Impact- Day 6: Member Spotlight

Meet Stephen Kalokoh. Stephen is one of our amazing Club members whose dedication and hard work is inspiring to everyone around him. Stephen became a Boys & Girls Clubs member in August 2011 at our Raleigh Boys Club and has remained an active member ever since. In both menial tasks and positions of authority Stephen leads by example, serving the Club and displaying a positive work ethic and sense of personal dignity. Over the years Stephen has done this in numerous ways including but not limited to mentoring younger Club members, tutoring in the Club Learning Center, participating in service projects such as Trees Across Raleigh, member of Club basketball team, graduate of a week-long Police Cadet training program, public speaking engagements, and is currently participated in our Youth of the Year competition for his third year in a row.

Stephen has won The Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year recognition as a member of both the Raleigh Boys Club & most recently the Teen Center. Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Club member can achieve. The Youth of the Year program celebrates youth who have overcome enormous odds and demonstrated exceptional character and accomplishments. These de stephen and durrell serving young people are recognized for service to their Club and community, academic performance and contributions to their family. Youth of the Year honorees are shining examples and living proof that great futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs.

The 12 Days of Impact (Nov. 20-Dec. 1) features Club stories to get everyone inspired for #GivingTuesday on December 1st, 2015. #GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving reminding us that the spirit of the holiday is about community and not just consumerism.
